The British crown has placed a price on Jacky's head, so she returns to the Lawson Peabody School for Young Girls in Boston to lay low. But the safe haven doesn't last—a school outing goes awry as Jacky and her classmates are abducted and forced into the hold of the Bloodhound, a ship bound for the slave markets on the Barbary Coast. All of Jacky's ingenuity, determination, and plain old good luck will be put to the test as she rallies her delicate classmates to fight together and become their own rescuers.

  • High Seas Adventure: From a proper Boston girls' school to the grim hold of a slaver ship bound for North Africa, the stakes have never been higher for Jacky Faber.
  • Survival Story: Faced with a terrifying fate, Jacky must rally her sheltered and delicate classmates, turning them from captives into their own rescuers before it's too late.
  • Strong Female Protagonist: With a price on her head from the British Crown and only her wits to protect her, Jacky proves why she is the celebrated heroine of the Bloody Jack adventures.
  • Historical Fiction for Teens: A richly detailed 19th-century world of tall ships, high-stakes kidnapping, and the infamous Barbary Coast slave markets comes vividly to life.
